Council Tree Felling Notice

9 Sep 2024

We wanted to let all our visitors, friends and supporters know that Henley Town Council has received permission to fell the horse chestnut tree outside the entrance to the River & Rowing Museum. Unfortunately, the tree is diseased and poses a risk to public safety.

We understand that the removal of trees is a matter of concern for many, and we share your appreciation for the beauty and environmental benefits that trees provide. In line with their commitment to maintaining a green and healthy environment, the Town Council has a “cut down one, plant two” policy whenever possible. In this instance, they are pleased to announce that they will replant the site with a large oak tree (Quercus robur), which will contribute to the landscape and continue the legacy of the horse chestnut tree.

The Town Council Parks Team will arrange for the works to be completed on 12th September,  during which time the Museum will remain open via the Car Park entrance for all visitors.
