Work & Play Holiday Club

Struggling for childcare over the summer holidays? Looking for something enriching and engaging for your children to do whilst you work or whilst you take a break? We have the answer… bring them to the River & Rowing Museum! This summer we are launching Work and Play Wednesdays.

Each week children will be introduced to various art techniques by our amazingly talented art tutor Camilla and will create their own pieces.  They will learn art forms such as screen printing, block printing, drawing, collage, photography and much more as well as social skills such as team work!  Techniques learnt can count towards a Discover Arts Award (accredited by Trinity College.  Find out more about the Arts Award here: What is Arts Award?).

The club will run from 9.30am – 4pm and all we ask is that you do your work or life admin from our lovely café with views across the Meadows or our dedicated meeting room.

Suitable for primary school aged children.

Additional information:

  • All materials for the activities will be provided, along with a small goody bag after each session.
  • Children can bring a snack to have during break.
  • Please advise us of any allergies in advance. Please note we cannot guarantee an allergen free zone given that each participant will bring their own snack of choice.
  • The building has wifi access.
  • If purchasing a drink or food, please feel free to work from the Rowing Room Café. The café serves a range of hot and cold drinks, paninis, cakes and pastries. There are 8 plug sockets in the café.
  • We will have a lunch break 12.20pm – 1pm and we ask that you re-join your children for this period. Lunch can be enjoyed together in the Café or outside on the Meadows.
  • Parents/guardians must stay on site from 9.30am – 4pm. This does not need to be the same parent/guardian for the duration, but please advise us in advance if you will be switching.
  • You are welcome to book any number of sessions out of the 4 on offer. The Arts Award accreditation requires 20hours, so children would need to attend at least 3 sessions to gain the Award, but the activities can be completed and enjoyed without working towards it. The accreditation through Trinity College plus an Arts Award certificate will cost an additional £4.70 per child.
