The Beautiful Blue

Community

Weaving tales of history, folklore and preservation of the delicate dance between humanity and the flowing waters of the world.

The Beautiful Blue is a waterside arts and ecology project running alongside a Chiltern chalk stream and the River Thames, from Hambleden to Henley. Artists, charities and communities unite in celebration of rivers and public participation in a series of events will raise awareness of river and water pollution.

The project launches at the Museum with a model of the full Beautiful Blue plan with information on installations and groups involved, and an exhibition of artwork by local school children for Greener Henley’s annual Environmental Science Challenge under the theme of ‘pollution’. Subsequently, a number of permanent and pop-up sculptural exhibitions and events will be held across the following year.

Participants include local community groups (including Chiltern Chalk Stream Volunteers, Henley Mermaids and Henley Toad Patrol), water focussed charities (including River Action U.K., EarthWatch, In Place of War and EarthSonic), and artists (including Maria Konder, Ellie Ramsden, Lisa Curtis and Khadija Niang).

Opening event: 23rd May 2024 | 16:00.- 20:00 | Curators introduction at 18:30 | Drinks sponsored by Oaken Grove Vineyard
