Annual review
Annual review 2006- 2007
The River & Rowing Museum had a good year and has seen many major developments come to fruition.
The Museum attracted 92,000 visitors, an increase of 17% on the previous year, which reinforces its position as one of the country’s leading independent museums. A new ticketing system was introduced that enables visitors to return free of charge for twelve months.
The year was marked by the formal opening of new education facilities in May, a package of support by Invesco Perpetual for the Henley Gallery and, following a major redisplay and upgrade, the re-opening of the Schwarzenbach International Rowing Gallery in June.
During the year we staged nine special exhibitions, including archaeological treasures from the Ashmolean, Luke Piper’s paintings of the Thames, and E H Shepard’s work as a book illustrator.
We are grateful to all those who support the Museum in so many different ways and hope that they will draw satisfaction and encouragement from the progress the Museum has made over the last 12 months.
